Spring of Life Club Video

Spring of Life is the support arm of The ECWA AIDS Ministry (TEAM), with activities including home visiting, voluntary testing and counseling (VCT), and community-building activities. Here is a short (6 minute) video with pictures of the children in the Kids Club, as well as a few shots of the adults' Spring of Life club meeting. These support groups have played a big role in the lives of our clients, building a sense of community, caring, and teamwork, and helping eliminate the stigma of HIV. The pictures and footage here were shot in 2005. Nearly all the kids were living with HIV at the time, and most are still doing well, with many on antiretroviral therapy.

The full book AIDS Is Real and It's in Our Church by C Jean Garland and Dr Mike Blyth is available free through this site in two forms:
Adobe Acrobat (PDF) files of the entire book, in different file sizes according to your needs. English, French, Hausa, and Portuguese versions are available. This is the form to use for printing or for reading "like a book" from the computer.
Online web pages on this site, accessed from the main menu. This version is being continually updated and improved, and has live links. Use it to get the most up-to-date information.

We have just launched a wiki for AIDS Is Real. What's a wiki? A place where you can not only read the text but easily make changes and contributions to the text, ask questions, dialogue. You can do anything from correcting a mis-spelled word to adding an entire chapter or story.
The wiki format makes all this easy. You don't have to know any HTML codes, it's as easy as clicking "Edit", making the changes, and clicking "Save". The comments section is open to everyone, even anonymous guests, while you need to register in order to work on the text, just so we can keep the spammers away as much as possible.
Help us keep the book up to date and make it more relevant to your country, your situation. The field of HIV care is changing fast. For example, past advice against infected couples ever planning to have children is now perhaps outdated. Good antiretroviral therapy with good supervision may make the risks very low.
We've seen many good discussions and ideas on the HIV/AIDS email lists ... join in, help give those ideas wider distribution and dialogue. Go to http://www.ecwaevangel.org/air_wiki or click the link on the AIDS Is Real main menu. Only about a third of the book is online in the wiki so far, but the rest will be added soon.
